Lalafell are outstanding! The eyes don’t really make sense, if you think about it. People think the vertical slit pupils are for keeping light out during the day, but that’s not really why vertical slit pupils work the way they do. There’s a few small monkeys or something that have round pupils that are nocturnal, but vertical slit pupils are usually nocturnal predators. The third lid for protection of the cornea from debris in the air makes sense though.

i use hair mods, bc i find the hairstyles to be very BORING and bland. like white bread. i wish the hairstyle contest they had had allowed for longer time but it just revealed they allow more of what we already have. cutesy hairstyles with hime bangs or a type of shaggy cut or mullet. what hair mod are you using? its gorgeous. i usually stick to really long hair mods as well- and ppl still cry "the clipping! ughhhh" but you can see that most of them are thick enough that it's not an issue. ppl just have limited view bc they like white bread.

I really wish that the base game would at least add some new hair styles. I want some punky styles. I used to have a lot of mods but my computer had an oopsy and I lost them all. I haven't downloaded any of them again, not even reshade. Well that's not entirely true, I did download reshade for about 10 minutes but then I got a direct x error and couldn't log into the game so I uninstalled it ;_;

People like you don't want mods because you need to make the game better... You want mods for modding's sake. Without mods you get antsy. It's a serious problem. Final Fantasy 14 does not need mods. You need to learn how to play the game as it was intended.

I don’t think anyone cares if your toon looks this way or that on your box. But when you start talking about “tools” to “improve performance,” what you are doing, whether or not you realize it, is opening the door to a corruption of the social environment. Let’s cut to the chase. Parsers & other “meta optimization tools” may be “optional” in theory, but if allowed to infect the social environment, they start creating barriers. “Only X dps or gtfo” is just the tip. Once these mods etc become normalized, anyone not using them gets excluded. They stop being actually optional, because they become expected. And as that occurs, the devs start changing their design methods to take them into account. This is what happened in WoW, and part of what caused that entire community to become so utterly toxic, fragmented, and hierarchical. It isn’t fun, and it drives people away, which is bad for the game itself, as a product, as in the current business climate, products & studios get burnt down for the crime of making slightly less massive profits than the C Suite ghouls are thirsting for. Lately, as the WoW tryhards & “competitive gamers” have started sullenly & angrily filtering into FF XIV, we have been seeing an uptick of the amount of harassment & toxic behavior. So much so that Yoshi-P & Co. decided to implement a change to blacklisting; putting someone on your black list now completely blocks them from contacting, interacting, or even seeing your presence, account wide. We didn’t used to need this, but here we are, and in no small part to mods & other “tools” being used to justify treating other players badly.

I originally started cause I just wanted those god damn awful sandals gone Now I do incredibly questionable gposing but I could not be having more fun and it’s nice to see what me and my friends can do with all we have available Mods are great but if I catch anyone actually using them to cheat then I’m calling my local Lala shin collectors, I don’t think there’s many that you can call cheats to begin with but the point remains, we have fun here within the reasonable bounds of what the game expects of you

I am a console and pc gamer and I can say that modding any game especially after beating it does come with a certain feeling of accomplishment and success. I love to see how far I can push the game, or how silly I can make it. Some titles I try to make it as realistic as possible. Needless to say on the specific topic of FFXIV I have been an avid player for a good while (2.5x) but it goes without saying I was really nervous the first time I downloaded ACT and tried it out. I can say it was an eye opener. I have not installed it again as I took a hiatus and now have returned. But using things like shaders and the simple login UI or even setting up a cleaner hud system I really do enjoy. The customization and interactions with the game in my opinion are what makes games 'good' or 'great'. For example I did play WoW from beginning to WoTK. I had so many mods on that game it would be a miracle to load it up on my laptop when I was traveling. But it was expected to have parsers and node finders to have some what of an edge in the game which I believe did allocate for the toxicity in the game. All that is to say it should not matter if you mod a game or not. The purest gamers will chime in and state that it is defiling all the hard work that the devs did to get it to work. I have to combat that with yes all the hard work to abandon the idea after they get their check and no longer work on those features. Take for example the aesthetician or squads in FFXIV completely abandoned ideas. I will stop bitching but I think mods have a place in gaming and should be left alone and not be judged if you use them or not. At least you paid for the game and have not pirated it. If you are not happy with it there is not exactly a return feature after sinking in a decent amount of time to 'give it a chance', you might as well make the game something you enjoy. And if you are making your career in this field of digital art and games as a content creator you have to bring something to the table that entertains the masses, this way you can make a living. There is no shame in that. Pursuit of happiness my dude. Do what you enjoy try not to think of what the masses think do what makes you happy. You do not live in Japan so you are not going to go to prison but be careful that you do not get your account banned! Good content my dude keep it up!

Mods saved my Ninja, I genuinely loathed the Ninja run because the character I wanted to make for my Ninja was more practical and also more into perfecting their form and the Ninja run is just arms flopping uselessly like a naruto cosplayer. Getting to use the Rogue's running animation was so huge for my enjoyment of the class and is why it's one of my 3 favorite classes so far(alongside white mage and my main Scholar)

As a console player, before Mare existed, I really disliked people who modded because they would put a blanket mod on every character and every item of clothing. People would send me screenshots of my character with a bunch of tattoos or gooned out clothing and it really creeped me out that people would not see my character the way I want to be seen. But since Mare came out, most people make sure to only mod themselves and it hasn't bothered me as much anymore outside of just jealousy haha

That Duviri combat music towards the end caught me off guard. I am pleasantly surprised that someone else loves that music

I’m not much for the females, but I might make one, though I’ve tried the male and I love his silly cartoon exaggerated run. I cant handle too girly/princess in distress running animations or stick up the butt animations lol.

Without the little helper mods and the one reading NPC unvoiced lines to me, man...mods really help a lot of people, especially the impared ones like me.

Sure I will play with my base character sometimes, more on expansion or patch releases, but when those mods are back oh baby will I be one of the first few to update my plugins and get my character back to how she was. Love my fox girl, and with the help of Mare (the moon i mentioned) others can see what I look like too! Opens so many doors for personalization... I love it

At the beginning of my FFXIV journey I thought "Oh man the Elezen are the only nice race they will be millions " and here we are I am alone with my tall lady 😂

I've played a femroe and the flatness of her butt is just sad. Maybe I'll go back to play the game again, hope to find a good warskirt or full plate that hides this intentional design atrocity. And I think it's really prevalent for femroe because she has legs like pillars in ancient greece, which fits the musclegiant archetype pretty well and then just no butt to hold the character together.
